We have a small cabin on a lake in New Hampshire that needed to be modernized to match its beautiful setting. Matt helped us make wise choices and supervised every part of the process including installing heat pumps, updating electric, tree removal, installing satellite internet service, installing a vapor barrier, demo and partial custom build out of our tiny kitchen and even tinier bathrooms. The space was small but the job was pretty intricate and required serious attention to detail. Unforeseen obstacles were handled with a rare grace and the confidence only a true professional can offer- we trust Matt completely.
We were in desperate need of a nursery this winter with a baby soon on the way. We were very grateful to find Joyful Construction as we struggled to find the right person to handle our delicate project. They were able to complete the project within a very tight and immovable deadline. The project consisted of demolition of lead and asbestos containing materials, moving some openings, reworking some plumbing lines, changing the layout of a hallway and bedroom, sound insulation, trimming out the space, and a brand new staircase down to our basement. Our house is over 100-years-old and we can tell they are experienced in handling the quirks of old Maine homes. Matt was extremely communicative via text and email about the details of this project and was able to calm our nerves. The schedule and budget was clearly laid out to us and he was quick to communicate any changes along the way. The quality of their work is top notch and the workflow was smooth and efficient. We can’t wait to raise our little one in this beautiful new space.
We hired Matt to renovate the kitchen and bathroom of our Portland home. We found him easy to talk to, and appreciated that he took the time to understand what we wanted to accomplish. Matt and Joyful Construction finished a bathroom renovation - taking the room down to the studs - for us that came out beautifully. We recently hired Joyful Carpentry to weatherize the crawl space of our circa 1850s beach cottage, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Matt’s comprehensive approach exceeded our expectations. Matt and his team sealed off drafts and effectively addressed a moisture issue by installing a vapor barrier, a sump pump, and foam insulation. They also installed a commercial grade dehumidifier. Matt took a strong personal interest in making sure that everything went as planned. The team was professional, efficient, and respectful of our property throughout the process. Thanks to Joyful Construction, we've noticed a significant improvement in energy efficiency (22% improvement on blower door test) and overall comfort. They even handled the application and all the other paperwork we needed to submit to qualify for a state energy rebate that saved us thousands!
